Soo Firehawks beats Rhinelander Street Cats 15-2 as Killips gets hat trick

Kevin Killips lifted Soo Firehawks to a 15-2 victory with a hat trick against Rhinelander Street Cats.

Killips got on the scoresheet 11:32 into the first period. He then added goals at 5:07 into the second and at 1:51 into the third.

Soo Firehawks gained an early advantage, leading 4-0 by the end of the first period.

Soo Firehawks forced Rhinelander Street Cats' netminders to work all game long, launching 61 shots and forcing 46 saves. Spencer Brasswell made 28 stops and Kent Nusbaum made 18. Rhinelander Street Cats could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Rhinelander Street Cats averages 4.1 goals per game. Rhinelander Street Cats' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Rhinelander Street Cats was led by Devin Vanderwyk, who grabbed two goals. Vanderwyk scored the first of his two goals at 11:03 into the second period to make the score 7-1 Soo Firehawks.
