Bloomington Blaze holds on for 8-7 win against Rhinelander Street Cats

Bloomington Blaze survived a determined comeback attempt by Rhinelander Street Cats on the way to an 8-7 win.

A goal by Joseph Clemente put Bloomington Blaze up 7-4 in the third period, but Rhinelander Street Cats pulled to within one on Todd Houtari's tally 5:04 into the third period.

Patrick Anaruk was all over the ice for Bloomington Blaze, as he had two goals in the win. Anaruk scored at 19:37 into the first period to make the score 2-2 and again while 17:34 into the second to make the score 5-4 Bloomington Blaze.

Bloomington Blaze forced Rhinelander Street Cats' goaltenders to work in net, ripping 47 shots and forcing 39 saves. Spencer Brasswell made 15 stops and Kent Nusbaum made 24. Bloomington Blaze managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Bloomington Blaze finished below its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Bloomington Blaze outdid its season average for goals scored. Bloomington Blaze averages 3.7 goals per game. Bloomington Blaze cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on four chances. Bloomington Blaze got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Bloomington Blaze additionally got points from Clemente, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Kyler Schmor, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Matt Donley, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Tyler Gehrken, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Bloomington Blaze's Gavin Carlson stopped 44 shots out of the 51 that he faced. Rhinelander Street Cats incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
