Michigan Ice Dogs uses shootout to best Tennyson Chevrolet, 4-3 (3-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Michigan Ice Dogs defeated Tennyson Chevrolet in a shootout 4-3 (3-1 SO).

The two teams needed eight turns to complete the shootout. Tennyson Chevrolet's shootout goal was scored by Joseph Matyaszek. Michigan Ice Dogs' other shootout goals were scored by Joshua Arnold and Alexander Stewart.

Michigan Ice Dogs came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Michigan Ice Dogs was down 3-2 after a power play goal by Tennyson Chevrolet's Jason Pischke at 12:46 in the second period. Michigan Ice Dogs knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Arnold at 19:00 in the third period.

Michigan Ice Dogs was helped by Robert Speer, who tallied one goal. Speer scored on the power play 10:25 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A hooking penalty on Matthew Hopersberger had put Michigan Ice Dogs on the power play. Steven Shariak assisted on the tally. James Subu also scored for Michigan Ice Dogs. In addition, Michigan Ice Dogs received assists from Mark Rotondo, who had one.

Tennyson Chevrolet did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Tennyson Chevrolet averages 5.9 goals per game. Tennyson Chevrolet's offense rang up 32 shots on Michigan Ice Dogs' net.

Tennyson Chevrolet was helped by Cal Jesko, who registered one goal. Jesko scored 8:53 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Anthony Wojciechowski picked up the assist. Tennyson Chevrolet also got a goal from Matyaszek as well. Other players who recorded assists for Tennyson Chevrolet were Anthony Davey, Jacob Bates, Ryan Brown, and Michael Cruse, who contributed one a piece.

Andrew Freeman made 29 saves for Michigan Ice Dogs on 32 shots. Michigan Ice Dogs incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tennyson Chevrolet's Brian Ellis stopped 18 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Tennyson Chevrolet incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
