Soo Firehawks beats Tennyson Chevrolet 5-4 after comeback scare

Soo Firehawks survived a determined comeback attempt by Tennyson Chevrolet on the way to a 5-4 win.

Soo Firehawks made the score 4-0 on a goal by Taylor McRorie at 17:43 in the second period, and Tennyson Chevrolet got as close as 4-3 when Ryan Brown scored 7:51 into the third period.

Soo Firehawks was paced on offense by Nicholas Murphy and Brandt Miller, who combined for five points. Murphy racked up two goals and one assist and Miller also added two goals.

Soo Firehawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Tennyson Chevrolet to score on any of its four power plays. Soo Firehawks' offense rang up 32 shots on Tennyson Chevrolet's net.

More assists for Soo Firehawks came via Kyle Maleport, who had two and Alexander Drulia, Kevin Killips, and Nate Fitzpatrick, who contributed one a piece.

Soo Firehawks was unable to stop Tennyson Chevrolet from sending pucks towards the net, and Tennyson Chevrolet eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Tennyson Chevrolet struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 38 penalty minutes for 12 opposing power plays.

Tennyson Chevrolet also got points from Timothy Muhsman, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Zachary Chapman also scored for Tennyson Chevrolet. Other players who recorded assists for Tennyson Chevrolet were Cal Jesko, who had two and Kenneth Winter and Robert Danyo, who each chipped in one.

Brennon Wachter recorded 32 saves for Soo Firehawks. Soo Firehawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tennyson Chevrolet's Brian Ellis stopped 27 shots out of the 32 that he faced.
