Early goals doom Tennyson Chevrolet, falls to Soo Firehawks, 9-1

Soo Firehawks opened up a five-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 9-1 over Tennyson Chevrolet.

Soo Firehawks' Brandon Hansen was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 31 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Hansen will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.33.

Soo Firehawks was sparked by Kyle Maleport, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Maleport scored on the power play 10:23 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Soo Firehawks. Soo Firehawks had gained a power play chance when Mitchell Mergel was whistled for roughing. Robert Boissoneau picked up the assist.

Tennyson Chevrolet was unable to stop Soo Firehawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Soo Firehawks eventually piled up 49 shots on goal. Soo Firehawks surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Soo Firehawks has scored at the pace of 4.8 goals per game during the current campaign. Soo Firehawks took advantage of Tennyson Chevrolet's penalties, tallying three goals off of five power play opportunities. Soo Firehawks got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Soo Firehawks additionally got points from Alexander Drulia, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Kyler Reattoir, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Nicholas Murphy, who also racked up two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Soo Firehawks included Kevin Killips, who had two and Anthony Laaksonen and Michael Mullen, who each put in one. More assists for Soo Firehawks came via Matthew Majic, Trevor McRorie, and Quinton Myotte, who each chipped in one and Matthew MacLaren, Brandt Miller, Nate Fitzpatrick, and John Barlow, who contributed two a piece.

Tennyson Chevrolet's offense operated below it season average. Tennyson Chevrolet averages 5.8 goals per game. Tennyson Chevrolet forced Soo Firehawks goalie Hansen to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Tennyson Chevrolet also got a goal from Zachary Chapman as well. Other players who recorded assists for Tennyson Chevrolet were Robert Danyo, who had one.
