Tennyson Chevrolet blows out Michigan Ice Dogs, 5-2

Tennyson Chevrolet had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over Michigan Ice Dogs.

Tennyson Chevrolet was led by Zachary Chapman, who registered one goal. Chapman scored 40 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 Tennyson Chevrolet. Zachary Wiacek assisted on the tally.

In a losing effort, Michigan Ice Dogs was led by Anthony Miotto, who grabbed two goals. Miotto scored the first of his two goals at 1:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Michigan Ice Dogs. Miotto's next tally made the score 4-2 Tennyson Chevrolet with 5:54 left in the second period. Alexander Stewart provided the assist.

Tennyson Chevrolet stifled Michigan Ice Dogs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Tennyson Chevrolet forced Michigan Ice Dogs goalie Andrew Freeman to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Tennyson Chevrolet was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 37 penalty minutes.

Kenneth Winter also scored for Tennyson Chevrolet. Other players who recorded assists for Tennyson Chevrolet were Kyle McKibbin, Anthony Davey, and Ryan Brown, who each chipped in one and Michael Cruse and Matthew Hopersberger, who contributed two a piece.

Michigan Ice Dogs racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and three majors for 39 minutes in penalty time. Michigan Ice Dogs surpassed its season average of 27.0 penalty minutes per game.

More assists for Michigan Ice Dogs came via Mark Rotondo, who had one.

Tennyson Chevrolet's Christopher Boyd stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that he faced. Tennyson Chevrolet registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Andrew Freeman made 29 saves for Michigan Ice Dogs on 34 shots. Michigan Ice Dogs registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
