Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Bloomington Blaze defeated Michigan Ice Dogs in a shootout 5-4 (2-1 SO). The two teams needed 14 turns to complete the shootout. Michigan Ice Dogs got a shootout goal from Tyler Textor. Bloomington Blaze's other shootout goal was scored by Cody Philips.Bloomington Blaze came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Bloomington Blaze fell behind 4-2 after a goal by Michigan Ice Dogs' Arron Podbielniak at 4:38 in the third period. Bloomington Blaze knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Kyler Schmor at 19:57 in the third period. Schmor had two goals and one assist to lead Bloomington Blaze. Schmor scored the first of his two goals at 3:22 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Joseph Clemente provided the assist. Schmor's next tally made the score with three seconds left in the third period. William Widmar assisted on the tally. Bloomington Blaze excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.
