NWO Grrrowl rips Great Lakes Lightning, 8-1

NWO Grrrowl had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-1 win over Great Lakes Lightning.

Gary Simmons was all over the ice for NWO Grrrowl, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Simmons scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 15:33 into the first period to make the score 2-0 NWO Grrrowl. NWO Grrrowl had gained a power play chance when Andrew Shalawylo was whistled for tripping. Benjamin Henry provided the assist. Simmons' next tally on the power play made the score 6-0 NWO Grrrowl with 15:25 left in the third period. Henry picked up the assist.

NWO Grrrowl's John Posler was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 38 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Posler will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.0.

NWO Grrrowl stifled Great Lakes Lightning's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. NWO Grrrowl forced Great Lakes Lightning goalie Jeff LaBaere to work between the pipes, taking 78 shots. NWO Grrrowl surpassed its usual scoring output this season. NWO Grrrowl has scored at the pace of 4.0 goals per game during the current campaign.

NWO Grrrowl additionally got points from Henry, who also had one goal and two assists and Zac Flachman, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. NWO Grrrowl also got a goal from Nicholas Diehl as well. In addition, NWO Grrrowl received assists from Kameron Cunningham, Jason Henry, Robert Schultz, and Austin Giblin, who each chipped in one.

Great Lakes Lightning's offense rang up 39 shots on NWO Grrrowl's net. Great Lakes Lightning was shut out on the power play, going scoring scoreless on nine chances with a man advantage.
