Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Michigan Ice Dogs defeated Holland River Bandits in a shootout 7-6 (2-0 SO).

Michigan Ice Dogs came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Michigan Ice Dogs was down 3-0 after a goal by Holland River Bandits' Bailey Rietman at 4:57 in the first period. Michigan Ice Dogs knotted things up at 6-6 on a goal by Matthew Hartford at 19:04 in the third period.

Michigan Ice Dogs made Holland River Bandits' netminders to work without much rest, taking 58 shots and forcing 51 saves. Jarred Felt made 22 stops and Trevor Teglia made 29. Michigan Ice Dogs surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Michigan Ice Dogs averages 4.4 goals per game. The defensemen of Michigan Ice Dogs were also effective in Holland River Bandits' zone, and came away with two goals.

Michigan Ice Dogs was helped by Cody Brent, who tallied two goals. Brent scored the first of his two goals at 7:09 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Holland River Bandits. Holland River Bandits was helped by Harry Braafhart, who racked up two goals and one assist. Braafhart scored the first of his two goals at 2:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Holland River Bandits. Abram Prince picked up the assist. Braafhart's next tally made the score 2-0 Holland River Bandits with 15:47 left in the first period. Holland River Bandits had gotten the advantage when Michigan Ice Dogs' Joshua Arnold was sent off for tripping. Bryce Stenstrom assisted on the tally. Holland River Bandits additionally got points from Rietman, who also registered one goal and one assist, Stenstrom, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Greg Balsam, who also had one goal and one assist. Holland River Bandits also got a goal from Cameron Fisher as well.
