Glacier squeaks by Great Falls, 5-3Stumptown Ice Den Sat, Feb 09, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Glacier escaped with a 5-3 victory over the Great Falls Americans. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Danny Roe's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker. Roe had two goals to lead Glacier to victory. Great Falls was unable to stop Glacier from sending pucks towards the net, and Glacier eventually piled up 52 shots on goal. Glacier found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Glacier averages 2.6 goals per game. Glacier also had goals scored by Chris Cutshall, who had one and Greg Heimann, who had two. In addition, Glacier received assists from Jay Johnstone, Travis Redman, Kyle Watne, and Brandon Vitale, who contributed one a piece and Mark Williams, Sebastian Adnell, and Tucker Spooner, who each chipped in two. The Americans kept Glacier's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Huberty made 41 saves on 44 shots. Great Falls was led by Dylan Garton, who registered two goals and one assist. Garton scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:08 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Great Falls. The Americans earned a power play opportunity when Cutshall was put in the box for hooking. Garton's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Glacier with 19:35 left in the third period. Nate Bastian picked up the assist. Billy Grillo also scored for Great Falls. More assists for Great Falls came via Lucas Stover, who had one. Glacier incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Erik Powell recorded 47 saves for Great Falls. The Americans incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
