NEPEAN shrugs off penalties, upends BRAMPTON, 4-1Century Gardens Sun, Feb 24, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
BRAMPTON failed to take advantage of its power play opportunities and NEPEAN shook off a number of penalties to win, 4-1. NEPEAN was paced by Katryne Villeneuve, who racked up one goal. Villeneuve scored 12:33 into the second period to make the score 2-1 NEPEAN. Mackenzie Stone picked up the assist. NEPEAN put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow BRAMPTON to score on any of its 10 power plays. NEPEAN also got points from Addi Halladay, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Sam Cogan also scored for NEPEAN. Other players who recorded assists for NEPEAN were Josiane Pozzebon, who had two and Taylor Thurston and Cassie Sharp, who each chipped in one. BRAMPTON was led by Darcy Henderson (C), who scored the team's only goal. Henderson (C) scored 13:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 BRAMPTON. Caitlyn Manning assisted on the tally. NEPEAN's Makayla Campbell stopped 22 shots out of the 23 that she faced. NEPEAN incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Brooke Stoddart made 25 saves for BRAMPTON on 29 shots. BRAMPTON incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
