TORONTO hangs on, beats WATERLOO 3-1

TORONTO took the lead against WATERLOO in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-1 victory.

Morgan Sly provided TORONTO with the game-winning tally when she scored 1:39 into the the first period. Audrey Potts assisted on the tally.

WATERLOO was stymied by TORONTO netminder Liberty McKague, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. McKague certainly lowered her goals against average, which was 2.1 entering the contest.

TORONTO was paced by Potts, who had one goal and one assist. Potts scored 13:32 into the first period to make the score 2-0 TORONTO. Sly picked up the assist.

TORONTO managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. TORONTO wound up below its season average of 11.0 penalty minutes per game. WATERLOO was unable to stop TORONTO from sending pucks towards the net, and TORONTO eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

TORONTO additionally got points from Sly, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. TORONTO also got a goal from Breanne Wilson-Bennett as well. Other players who recorded assists for TORONTO were Rachel Bierbrier, who had two and Emma Korbs and MacKenzie MacNeil, who each chipped in one.

WATERLOO was led by Emma Leger, who scored the team's only goal. Leger scored 10:53 into the second period to make the score 2-1 TORONTO.

TORONTO registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. Laura Deller made 31 saves for WATERLOO on 34 shots. WATERLOO avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of one power plays.
