WATERLOO outlasts SOUTHWEST, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, WATERLOO escaped with a 4-2 victory over SOUTHWEST.

WATERLOO gained the winning advantage on a goal by Lindsay Dales 5:25 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

SOUTHWEST's power play was ineffective against WATERLOO's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

WATERLOO was led by Dales, who racked up one goal.

WATERLOO excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. WATERLOO's offense rang up 36 shots on SOUTHWEST's net. WATERLOO's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as WATERLOO finished with 14 penalty minutes.

Jade Gauthier also scored for WATERLOO. In addition, WATERLOO received assists from Amber Sealey, Dollee Meigs, and Mary Worndl, who each chipped in one.

SOUTHWEST struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 16 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

SOUTHWEST was helped by Krystin Lawrence, who registered one goal. Lawrence scored 10:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 SOUTHWEST. Meghan Power assisted on the tally. SOUTHWEST also got a goal from Laura Monforton as well. More assists for SOUTHWEST came via Haley Telega and Dana Bryne, who contributed one a piece.

Stephanie Sluys recorded 16 saves for WATERLOO. Hanna Slater rejected 32 shots on goal for SOUTHWEST.
