STONEY CREEK survives LEASIDE comeback, wins 4-2

LEASIDE tried to dig itself out of a four-goal hole, but STONEY CREEK held on for a 4-2 victory.

A goal by Sydney McKibbon (C) put STONEY CREEK up 4-0 in the second period, but LEASIDE pulled to within two on Alex Rodriguez's tally 17:38 into the third period.

LEASIDE was unable to stop STONEY CREEK from sending pucks towards the net, and STONEY CREEK eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. STONEY CREEK struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for 10 opposing power plays.

STONEY CREEK was helped by Sarah Nurse (A), who registered one goal. Nurse (A) scored 13:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 STONEY CREEK. Teresa Horner provided the assist. STONEY CREEK also got points from McKibbon (C), who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Caitlin Wallace also scored for STONEY CREEK. In addition, STONEY CREEK received assists from Olivia Atkinson, MacAuley Carr, Kristina Kocsis, and Devon Morrison, who contributed one a piece.

LEASIDE could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

More assists for LEASIDE came via Kaitlin Lowy, Sarah McGilvray, Anthea Lasis, and Sam Corkum, who each chipped in one.

Taylor Cook made 18 saves for STONEY CREEK on 20 shots. STONEY CREEK registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. For STONEY CREEK, Madison Field was ejected from the game. LEASIDE's Alex Armstrong stopped 34 shots out of the 38 that she faced.
