OTTAWA tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but OAKVILLE held on for a 3-2 victory. OAKVILLE made the score 3-0 on a goal by Andrea Benac at 9:28 in the second period, and OTTAWA got as close as 3-2 when Mackenzie Coney scored 10:43 into the third period. OAKVILLE's penalty kill excelled, as OAKVILLE gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. OAKVILLE stifled OTTAWA's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. OAKVILLE was helped by Lindsay Stenason, who finished with one goal. Stenason scored 14:15 into the first period to make the score 2-0 OAKVILLE. Jessica Prevette assisted on the tally. Michelle Quick also scored for OAKVILLE. In addition, OAKVILLE received assists from Emma Maltais (PU), Jennifer MacAskill, Lauren Carroll, and Amanda Pereira, who contributed one a piece. OTTAWA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow OAKVILLE to score on any of its three power plays. OTTAWA was helped by Stacy Galasso, who registered one goal. Galasso scored 5:07 into the third period to make the score 3-1 OAKVILLE. Kayla Carter provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for OTTAWA were Meghan Carty, Cassidy Herman, and Samantha Morell, who each chipped in one. Mackenzie Weins made 22 saves for OAKVILLE on 24 shots. OAKVILLE incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Shawlee Gaudreault recorded 18 saves for OTTAWA. OTTAWA incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
