LEASIDE survives OTTAWA comeback, wins 4-2

OTTAWA tried its best to erase a three-goal deficit, but LEASIDE would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2.

LEASIDE took a 4-1 lead during the third period, only to have OTTAWA storm back on a Stacy Galasso goal 17:05 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

LEASIDE was led by Sarah McGilvray, who racked up one goal. McGilvray scored 3:09 into the third period to make the score 3-1 LEASIDE. Alyssa Connolly provided the assist.

LEASIDE got its opportunities on the power play, but did not convert any of its nine chances.

LEASIDE also got points from Kaitlin Lowy, who also had one goal and two assists and Katrina Manoukarakis, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. LEASIDE also got a goal from Kristen Lucas as well. Other players who recorded assists for LEASIDE were Megan Sullivan, who had two.

OTTAWA stifled LEASIDE's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. LEASIDE was unable to stop OTTAWA from sending pucks towards the net, and OTTAWA eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Shania Lavallee also scored for OTTAWA. More assists for OTTAWA came via Mackenzie Coney and Hannah Driver, who contributed one a piece.

Alex Armstrong rejected 36 shots on goal for LEASIDE. LEASIDE incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Sarah McGall recorded 22 saves for OTTAWA. OTTAWA totaled 41 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. OTTAWA ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Erica McCarney was ejected from the game.
