NEPEAN beats OAKVILLE 3-2 after comeback scare

OAKVILLE tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but NEPEAN held on for a 3-2 victory.

NEPEAN took a 3-1 lead during the second period, only to have OAKVILLE storm back on a Heather Platt goal 13:23 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Sam Cogan was all over the ice for NEPEAN, as she tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Cogan scored 4:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 NEPEAN. Cassidy Campeau provided the assist.

NEPEAN excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Mackenzie Irvine (PU) also scored for NEPEAN. Other players who recorded assists for NEPEAN were Josiane Pozzebon, who had two.

OAKVILLE stifled NEPEAN's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

OAKVILLE was helped by Jennifer MacAskill, who tallied one goal. MacAskill scored 8:28 into the first period to make the score 2-1 NEPEAN. Savannah Newton picked up the assist. More assists for OAKVILLE came via Jessica Prevette, Heather Hood, and Lindsay Stenason, who each chipped in one.

NEPEAN's Kierra Lambertucci stopped 17 shots out of the 19 that she faced. NEPEAN totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. Camille Leonard rejected 27 shots on goal for OAKVILLE. OAKVILLE incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
