CAMBRIDGE squeaks by ETOBICOKE, 5-3

CAMBRIDGE gutted out a close 5-3 win against ETOBICOKE.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Marcie Landman's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Taytum Clairmont was all over the ice for CAMBRIDGE, as she tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Clairmont scored 19:47 into the third period to make the score 5-3 CAMBRIDGE.

In a losing effort, ETOBICOKE was paced by Mackenzie Johnston, who tallied two goals. Johnston scored the first of her two goals at 1:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 ETOBICOKE. Nicole Atkinson picked up the assist. Johnston's next tally made the score 3-3 with 5:04 left in the third period. Cara Sayles assisted on the tally.

ETOBICOKE was unable to stop CAMBRIDGE from sending pucks towards the net, and CAMBRIDGE eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. CAMBRIDGE surpassed its usual scoring output this season. CAMBRIDGE has scored at the pace of 2.2 goals per game during the current campaign. CAMBRIDGE's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as CAMBRIDGE finished with 14 penalty minutes.

CAMBRIDGE also got points from Kaileigh Grant (A), who also finished with one goal and one assist. Angela MacDonald also scored for CAMBRIDGE. In addition, CAMBRIDGE received assists from Emma Davidson, Jessica Pellegrino, and Amanda McClure, who contributed one a piece.

ETOBICOKE's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. ETOBICOKE gives up 2.4 goals per game. ETOBICOKE found itself short handed often, totaling 18 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays.

ETOBICOKE additionally got points from Atkinson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for ETOBICOKE came via Julia Szulewska, who had two and Shannon Whitaker and Emma Dahlgren (C), who each chipped in one.

CAMBRIDGE's Jenna Sosnoski stopped 15 shots out of the 18 that she faced. Amanda Smith made 29 saves for ETOBICOKE on 33 shots. ETOBICOKE registered two goals on six power play opportunities.
