DURHAM WEST outlasts WATERLOO, 4-3

DURHAM WEST and WATERLOO were evenly matched throughout their contest, but DURHAM WEST made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Kennedy Marchment at 19:39 of the third period.

DURHAM WEST got the win thanks to a great game by Marchment, who had two goals and one assist. Marchment scored the first of her two goals at 4:13 into the third period to make the score 3-2 DURHAM WEST. Dakota Waites assisted on the tally. Marchment's next tally made the score 4-3 DURHAM WEST with 21 seconds left in the third period. Brittany St. James provided the assist.

DURHAM WEST forced WATERLOO goalie Laura Deller to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

DURHAM WEST additionally got points from Stephanie Cooper, who also had one goal and one assist. DURHAM WEST also got a goal from Laura Horwood as well. Other players who recorded assists for DURHAM WEST were Meagan Lee, who had one and Carly Marchment (C), who had two.

WATERLOO managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. WATERLOO ended up below its season average of 11.0 penalty minutes per game.

WATERLOO was helped by Mary Worndl, who finished with two goals and one assist. Worndl scored the first of her two goals at 5:42 into the second period to make the score 2-1 WATERLOO. Laura Irwin picked up the assist. Worndl's next tally made the score 3-3 with 4:32 left in the third period. Loren Gabel provided the assist. WATERLOO also got points from Gabel, who also tallied one goal and two assists.

Kassidy Sauve recorded 15 saves for DURHAM WEST. DURHAM WEST incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. WATERLOO's Deller stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that she faced. WATERLOO registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
