Keers (A)'s big game bests LEASIDE in 3-1 BARRIE winEast Bayfield Sun, Dec 23, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Alora Keers (A) was all over the ice for BARRIE, as she tallied two goals and one assist in BARRIE's 3-1 win over LEASIDE. Keers (A) found the back of the net 3:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 BARRIE and again while 13:53 into the third to make the score 3-1 BARRIE.BARRIE's Sarah Stephens was a brick wall in net, as she came up with 33 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Stephens will be reflected in her goals against average, which pre-game was 2.31. BARRIE excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Tara Morning also scored for BARRIE. In addition, BARRIE received assists from Paige Picard (A), who had two and Justine Treadwell (C) and Alex Bond, who each chipped in one. LEASIDE forced BARRIE goalie Stephens to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. LEASIDE was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 16 penalty minutes. LEASIDE was led by Katrina Manoukarakis, who scored the team's only goal. Manoukarakis scored 11:34 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Megan Sullivan picked up the assist. BARRIE incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Alex Armstrong recorded 19 saves for LEASIDE.
