NEPEAN penalty kill dominates in 3-1 defeat of OTTAWABell Sensplex-Mattamy Homes Thu, Dec 20, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
OTTAWA failed to take advantage of its power play opportunities and NEPEAN shook off a number of penalties to win, 3-1. NEPEAN was paced by Meghan Brennan, who finished with one goal. Brennan scored 11:07 into the third period to make the score 2-1 NEPEAN. Josiane Pozzebon provided the assist. NEPEAN's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight OTTAWA power plays. NEPEAN kept OTTAWA's goalie busy throughout the game, and Sarah McGall made 31 saves on 34 shots. NEPEAN could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. NEPEAN also got points from Pozzebon, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Katryne Villeneuve also scored for NEPEAN. More assists for NEPEAN came via Sam Cogan, who had two and Cassidy Campeau, Lindsay Eastwood, and Myfanwy Thomson, who each chipped in one. OTTAWA excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. OTTAWA was led by Samantha Morell, who scored the team's only goal. Morell scored 8:48 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Erin Sauve picked up the assist. Makayla Campbell made 22 saves for NEPEAN on 23 shots. OTTAWA incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. |
