TORONTO survives NEPEAN comeback, wins 3-1

NEPEAN tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but TORONTO held on for a 3-1 victory.

TORONTO made the score 3-0 on a goal by MacKenzie MacNeil at 11:25 in the third period, and NEPEAN got as close as 3-1 when Katryne Villeneuve scored 19:24 into the third period.

NEPEAN was stymied by TORONTO netminder Liberty McKague, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. McKague managed to improve on her goals against average, which stood at 1.57 prior to the game.

TORONTO put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow NEPEAN to score on any of its five power plays.

TORONTO was helped by Amanda Pantaleo, who finished with one goal. Pantaleo scored 1:42 into the second period to make the score 2-0 TORONTO. Rachel Bierbrier assisted on the tally. TORONTO also got points from Breanne Wilson-Bennett, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for TORONTO came via Hannah Rastrick and Brooke Webster, who contributed one a piece.

NEPEAN could not produce up to it normal offensive output. NEPEAN puts an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game.

Other players who recorded assists for NEPEAN were Lindsay Eastwood and Addi Halladay, who each chipped in one.

TORONTO incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. NEPEAN's Makayla Campbell stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that she faced. NEPEAN incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
