BLUEWATER survives BURLINGTON comeback, wins 2-1Mainway A Sun, Dec 09, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
BLUEWATER survived a determined comeback attempt by BURLINGTON on the way to a 2-1 win. A goal by Jessica Wakefield put BLUEWATER up 2-0 in the second period, but BURLINGTON pulled to within one on Maeve Garvey's tally 15:58 into the third period. BLUEWATER was led by goalie Sasha Weekes, who finished with 32 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Weekes will be reflected in her goals against average, which pre-game was 2.14. BLUEWATER pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes. BLUEWATER's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six BURLINGTON power plays. BLUEWATER also got a goal from Shailyn Waites as well. In addition, BLUEWATER received assists from Sydney Dobbin, Stacey Henshaw, Brooke Hartwick, and Karley Campbell, who each chipped in one. BURLINGTON forced BLUEWATER goalie Weekes to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Other players who recorded assists for BURLINGTON were Logan Boyd, who had one. BLUEWATER registered one goal on two power play opportunities. BURLINGTON's Rilee Wasilik stopped 21 shots out of the 23 that she faced. BURLINGTON incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
