OAKVILLE rips SOUTHWEST, 8-2

OAKVILLE had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-2 win over SOUTHWEST.

OAKVILLE was sparked by Heather Hood, who registered one goal and one assist. Hood scored 10:06 into the second period to make the score 3-1 OAKVILLE. Lindsay Stenason provided the assist.

OAKVILLE forced SOUTHWEST's goaltenders to work without much rest, firing 33 shots and forcing 25 saves. Katrina Heyink made 18 stops and Hanna Slater made seven. OAKVILLE outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, OAKVILLE averages 2.1 goals per contest. OAKVILLE could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. OAKVILLE's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in four goals.

OAKVILLE also got points from Hayley Scamurra, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Savannah Newton, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Michelle Quick, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. OAKVILLE also got a goal from Heather Platt as well. Other players who recorded assists for OAKVILLE were Victoria Medeiros, Andrea Benac, Lauren Carroll, and Nicole Vigilanti, who contributed one a piece.

SOUTHWEST could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

SOUTHWEST was led by Tavia Maurovic, who registered one goal. Maurovic scored 6:43 into the second period to make the score 2-1 OAKVILLE. Jamie Noseworthy assisted on the tally. Krystin Lawrence also scored for SOUTHWEST. In addition, SOUTHWEST received assists from Haley Telega and Dana Bryne, who each chipped in one.

OAKVILLE's Kierra Lambertucci stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that she faced. OAKVILLE registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. SOUTHWEST registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
