Huge game by Goodwin boosts BURLINGTON over SOUTHWEST, 4-1

Melissa Goodwin was all over the ice for BURLINGTON, as she tallied one goal and two assists in BURLINGTON's 4-1 win over SOUTHWEST.

Goodwin got on the board by slotting home a goal 13:05 into the second period to make the score 2-1 BURLINGTON. Logan Land picked up the assist. Goodwin dished an assist on Coco Sultana's goal that made the score 1-0 BURLINGTON at 12:38 into the first period. He added another helper on Christine Neatby's goal that made the score 4-1 BURLINGTON at 5:30 into the third period.

BURLINGTON made SOUTHWEST's netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 32 shots and forcing 28 saves. Hanna Slater made 18 stops and Katrina Heyink made 10. BURLINGTON's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

BURLINGTON additionally got points from Sultana, who also racked up one goal and one assist. BURLINGTON also got a goal from Logan Boyd as well. Other players who recorded assists for BURLINGTON were Maeve Garvey, who had two and Karly Zammit and Anita Paone, who each chipped in one.

SOUTHWEST was led by Laura Monforton, who scored the team's only goal. Monforton scored 6:10 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Haley Telega assisted on the tally.

Kyra OBrien recorded 16 saves for BURLINGTON. BURLINGTON incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. SOUTHWEST incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
