BLUEWATER hangs on, beats TORONTO 1-0

Brooke Hartwick scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and BLUEWATER held off the challenges of TORONTO in a tough 1-0 win.

BLUEWATER took over the lead for good with a goal by Hartwick at 7:13 in the first period. Karley Campbell provided the assist.

Sasha Weekes spearheaded the defensive effort for BLUEWATER, as she did not allow a puck past him and made 32 saves for the shutout. The solid play of Weekes will be reflected in her goals against average, which pre-game was 2.28.

BLUEWATER's penalty kill excelled, as BLUEWATER gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

BLUEWATER stifled TORONTO's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. BLUEWATER featured an improved defense during the game. BLUEWATER averages 2.3 goals allowed per game. TORONTO's defense shut down BLUEWATER's forwards for much of the game, and BLUEWATER got off only 10 shots during the contest.

More assists for BLUEWATER came via Lauren Lefler, who had one.
