Garay nets hat trick, leads Connecticut EJ to 6-3 win over Tampa Juniors

Tampa Juniors could not stop Connecticut EJ's Jake Garay, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-3 win.

Garay's first goal came 10:38 into the second period. He then added goals at 20:31 into the second and at 24:40 into the second.

Connecticut EJ's penalty kill excelled, as Connecticut EJ gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Connecticut EJ stifled Tampa Juniors' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Connecticut EJ forced Tampa Juniors goalie Nicholas Malvin to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Connecticut EJ was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 17 penalty minutes.

Connecticut EJ also got a goal from Sam Boyd as well. Other players who recorded assists for Connecticut EJ were Tyler Wilmot, Daniel McMullan, Conor Lamberti, Phillip Dinner, Jeremy Heinle, Jared Chinn, and Shayne Bingham, who each chipped in one and Dylan Smith and Brett Oldaker, who contributed two a piece.

Tampa Juniors' offense rang up 39 shots on Connecticut EJ's net.

Tampa Juniors was helped by Jared Goudreau, who racked up one goal and one assist. Goudreau scored 4:31 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Connecticut EJ. Logan Garst picked up the assist. Tampa Juniors also got points from Garst, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Connor Esrick also scored for Tampa Juniors. In addition, Tampa Juniors received assists from Scott Lemire, David Cross, and Paul Lochner, who each chipped in one.

Nikolas Nugnes rejected 36 shots on goal for Connecticut EJ. Connecticut EJ registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Tampa Juniors' Malvin stopped 30 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Tampa Juniors incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
