Thinel's big game bests Allen in 4-0 Missouri win

The Missouri Mavericks' Sebastien Thinel had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 4-0 win over the Allen Americans.

Thinel found the back of the net 5:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Missouri and again while 7:34 into the first to make the score 2-0 Missouri.

Mathieu Corbiel frustrated Allen's offense all game, and stopped 36 shots en route to a shutout. Corbiel managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.69 prior to the game.

Missouri was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. The Mavericks had been averaging 15.0 minutes in penalties per game. Missouri excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Mavericks relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Kenton Miller, Thinel and Blake Forsyth took 12 of the team's 22 shots.

Missouri additionally got points from Miller, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Kellen Tochkin also scored for Missouri. More assists for Missouri came via Andrew Courtney, who had two and Brandon Smith, J.P. Testwuide, and Joshua Hepditch, who contributed one a piece.

The Americans did not rack up many penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. Allen ended up below its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. The Americans could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Allen puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. The Americans' offense rang up 36 shots on Missouri's net.

Allen was led by Tyler Ludwig, who took eight shots.

The Mavericks registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Aaron Dell took the loss and made 14 saves before being replaced by Steve Silverthorn who made four saves.
