Quad City beats Missouri 6-0 as Murray gains shutout

John Murray was superb between the pipes for the Quad City Mallards, as he did not allow a goal in a 6-0 victory over the Missouri Mavericks.

Quad City was led by Mickey Lang, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Lang scored 6:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Quad City. Patrik Levesque picked up the assist.

The Mallards excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. By firing 30 shots on goal, Quad City exceeded the 26.6 shots it averages per game this year. The Mallards' goal total was higher than their season average. Quad City has scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign.

Quad City additionally got points from Levesque, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points and Mike Hellyer, who also registered one goal and one assist. Obi Aduba also scored for Quad City. In addition, Quad City received assists from Bob Preece, Mitch McColm, Tyler Amburgey, and Shayne Toporowski, who contributed one a piece and Darren McMillan and Jason Dixon, who each chipped in two.

Missouri stifled the Mallards' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Mavericks could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Missouri puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. The Mavericks' offense was clicking better than usual and put 35 shots on goal during the game, better than the 23.6 shots per game they average.

Missouri was led by Andrew Courtney, who took five shots.

Quad City's Murray stopped 35 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Mallards totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. Mike Clemente made 24 saves for the Mavericks on 30 shots. Missouri ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
