Denver rides Millan to victory over Missouri, 2-1Silverstein Eye Centers Arena Tue, Feb 12, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Kieran Millan helped the Denver Cutthroats defeat the Missouri Mavericks, 2-1. Denver was sparked by Aaron MacKenzie, who registered one goal. MacKenzie scored on the power play 18:37 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Denver. The Cutthroats had gained a power play chance when Colt King was whistled for slashing. Ben Wilson picked up the assist. Denver put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Missouri to score on any of its five power plays. The Cutthroats' offense was clicking better than usual and put 28 shots on goal during the game, better than the 21.3 shots per game they average. Jean-Philipp Chabot also scored for Denver. Other players who recorded assists for Denver were Gabe Gauthier, Mario Boilard, and Michael Trebish, who each chipped in one. The Mavericks' offense operated below they season average. Missouri puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. The Mavericks put 30 shots on net during the contest, more than the 20.4 they average per game. Missouri was led by Trevor Kell, who scored the team's only goal. Kell scored 5:57 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Kellen Tochkin assisted on the tally. Millan rejected 29 shots on goal for Denver. The Cutthroats incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Mathieu Corbiel made 26 saves for the Mavericks on 28 shots. Missouri incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
