Tochkin leads Missouri over Bloomington, 6-3

The Missouri Mavericks' Kellen Tochkin had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 6-3 win over the Bloomington Blaze.

Tochkin found the back of the net 17:17 into the first period to make the score 2-2 and again while 6:24 into the third to make the score 5-3 Missouri.

Missouri was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. The Mavericks had been averaging 16.0 minutes in penalties per game. Missouri found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Mavericks have scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign. Missouri relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Tochkin, Trevor Kell and John-Scott Dickson took 18 of the team's 33 shots.

Missouri additionally got points from Kell, who also registered one goal and one assist and Kenton Miller, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Colt King also scored for Missouri. More assists for Missouri came via Sebastien Thinel, who had three and Dave Pszenyczny and Kyle Hood, who each chipped in one.

Bloomington's offense was clicking better than usual and put 36 shots on goal during the game, better than the 23.4 shots per game it averages.

The Blaze were led by Steve Makway, who grabbed one goal and two assists. Makway scored on the power play 16:54 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Bloomington. Bloomington had gotten the advantage when the Mavericks' Kell was sent off for tripping. Kyle Bochek provided the assist. Bloomington also got a goal from Brett Lutes as well. Other players who recorded assists for Bloomington were Jon Booras, who had two.

Mathieu Corbiel rejected 33 shots on goal for Missouri. The Mavericks registered one goal on three power play opportunities. The Blaze's Pier-Olivier Pelletier stopped 27 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Bloomington totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 3-for-6 on the power play.
