Miller's hat trick boosts Missouri over Tulsa, 5-2

Kenton Miller netted a hat trick to lead the Missouri Mavericks over the Tulsa Oilers, 5-2.

Miller notched his first tally 14:41 into the second period. He then added goals at 5:06 into the third and at 9:32 into the third.

Missouri relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Miller, Kellen Tochkin and Colt King took 22 of the team's 39 shots.

Missouri additionally got points from Tochkin, who also racked up one goal and three assists, Sebastien Thinel, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and King, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Missouri came via Trevor Kell and Jared Lavender, who contributed one a piece.

Tulsa managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Oilers ended up below its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. Tulsa's defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 14 shots between them. The 34 shots that the Oilers put on net surpassed Tulsa's average of 20.3 shots per game this season.

The Oilers were helped by Jason Weeks, who registered one goal. Weeks scored 3:38 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Missouri. Kyle OKane assisted on the tally. Sean Erickson also scored for Tulsa. In addition, Tulsa received assists from Jeff Buvinow, Ryan Menei, and Patrick Schafer, who each chipped in one.

Mike Clemente made 32 saves for the Mavericks on 34 shots. Missouri incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors and had no power play opportunities. Dan Clarke recorded 34 saves for Tulsa. The Oilers registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
