The Bloomington Blaze could not stop the Quad City Mallards' Anthony Perdicaro, who tallied a hat trick in a 9-6 win.

Perdicaro's first goal came 2:48 into the second period. He then added goals at 6:42 into the second and at 17:42 into the second.

Quad City forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up four minors and three majors for 33 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 16.0 minutes per game the Mallards had been spending in the box. Quad City outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Mallards average 3.1 goals per contest.

Quad City also got points from Bob Preece, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Obi Aduba, who also had one goal and one assist, Mickey Lang, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Mike Hellyer, who also registered one goal and two assists. Quad City also got a goal from Mike Stinziani as well. Other players who recorded assists for Quad City were Jason Kostadine, Patrik Levesque, and Mitch McColm, who contributed one a piece and Michael Monfredo, Matt Duffy, and Jason Dixon, who each chipped in two.

Bloomington racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and three majors for 37 minutes in penalty time. The Blaze surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. Bloomington bested its season scoring average. The Blaze have scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign. By firing 34 shots on goal, Bloomington exceeded the 23.1 shots it averages per game this year.

The Blaze were helped by David Gilbert, who grabbed two goals. Gilbert scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 13 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Steve Makway assisted on the tally. Gilbert's next tally on the power play made the score 6-2 Quad City with 2:39 left in the second period. Bloomington had gotten the advantage when Quad City's Shayne Toporowski was sent off for tripping. Jon Booras picked up the assist. Jared Walker also scored for Bloomington. In addition, Bloomington received assists from Travis Granbois, who had one and Phil Ginand, who had two.

The Mallards' John Murray stopped 28 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Quad City registered three goals on six power play opportunities. The Mallards ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Gabriel Boutin-Gagnon was ejected from the game. The Blaze took out Dan Dunn after he had made 11 saves and installed Pier-Olivier Pelletier in goal, where he finished with six saves and the loss. Bloomington registered three goals on six power play opportunities. For the Blaze, Kyle Bochek was ejected from the game.
