Allen boosted by Dell's play in net, beats Missouri 5-1

Kale Kerbashian had two goals to lead the Allen Americans to a 5-1 victory over the Missouri Mavericks.

Kerbashian scored at 8:59 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Allen and again while 18:05 into the third to make the score 5-1 Allen.

Missouri was stymied by Allen netminder Aaron Dell, who stopped 28 shots during the victory. Dell certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.14 entering the contest.

The Americans put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Mavericks to score on any of their three power plays. By firing 36 shots on goal, Allen exceeded the 21.0 shots it averages per game this year.

Allen also got a goal from Jason Deitsch as well. In addition, Allen received assists from Jerret Lukin, who had two and Mike Berube, Anthony Maiani, and Mike Montgomery, who each chipped in one.

Missouri's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Allen power plays. The Mavericks were held below their usual level of production. Missouri averages 3.3 goals per game. The Mavericks put 29 shots on net during the contest, more than the 24.3 they average per game.

Missouri was led by Sebastien Thinel, who scored the team's only goal. Thinel scored 14:58 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Allen. Andrew Courtney assisted on the tally.

The Americans incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Mavericks' Mathieu Corbiel stopped 31 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Missouri incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
