The Tulsa Oilers' Ben Gordon had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing four assists in his team's 5-2 win over Rapid City.

Gordon got on the board by slotting home a power play goal 8:51 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Tulsa. A tripping penalty on Kyle Peto had put Tulsa on the power play. Drew Fisher picked up the assist. Gordon dished an assist on Ryan Menei's goal that made the score 2-1 Rapid City at 12:16 into the first period. He then added assists on Menei's goal at 3:06 into the second, on Menei's goal at 16:07 into the third, and on Menei's goal at 19:32 into the third.

The Oilers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Rapid City to score on any of its four power plays. With 27 shots on target during the contest, Tulsa exceeded the 19.8 shots it averages per game this year. The Oilers bested their season scoring average. Tulsa averages 2.9 goals per game. The Oilers' defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 15 shots between them.

In addition, Tulsa received assists from Jeff Buvinow and Tyler Fleck, who contributed one a piece.

Rapid City's offense was clicking better than usual and put 30 shots on goal during the game, better than the 24.8 shots per game it averages. Rapid City found itself short handed often, totaling 22 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

Rapid City was helped by Jesse Schultz, who racked up one goal. Schultz scored short handed 4:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Rapid City. Rapid City found itself down a man on Scott Wray's slashing. Jared Brown assisted on the tally. Rapid City additionally got points from Brown, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Rapid City were Riley Weselowski, Jamie VanderVeeken, and Garrett Gruenke, who each chipped in one.

Tulsa's Shane Madolora stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Oilers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Danny Battochio recorded 22 saves for Rapid City.
