Wichita rolls over Quad City, 5-1i-wireless Center Wed, Jan 02, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Wichita Thunder were firing on all cylinders against the Quad City Mallards, and when the final buzzer sounded Thunder emerged with a 5-1 win. Wichita was led by goalie Kevin Regan, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Regan will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.34. The Thunder were paced by Gregor Hanson, who registered one goal. Hanson scored 16:29 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Wichita. Matt Summers assisted on the tally. Wichita's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Quad City power plays. With 31 shots on target during the contest, the Thunder exceeded the 27.0 shots they average per game this year. Wichita additionally got points from Dustin Donaghy, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Wichita also had goals scored by Aaron Boogaard, who had one and Neil Trimm, who had two. In addition, Wichita received assists from Les Reaney, who had two and Todd Griffith, Ian Lowe, and RG Flath, who each chipped in one. Quad City put 32 shots on net during the contest, more than the 24.8 it averages per game. The Mallards were led by Shayne Toporowski, who took four shots. Wichita incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. John Murray made 26 saves for Quad City on 31 shots. The Mallards incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
