Kevin Petovello tallied one point to lead the Arizona Sundogs to a 2-1 victory over the Allen Americans. Arizona racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with five minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. The Sundogs surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Arizona stifled Allen's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Sundogs relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Chad Nehring, Derek LeBlanc and Mario Larocque took 15 of the team's 25 shots. Arizona also got points from Ron Meyers, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Arizona came via Matt Register and Jason Morgan, who each chipped in one. The Americans failed to reach their usual level of shot production, putting 17 pucks on goal after averaging 21.5 shots per game this season. Allen did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Americans average 3.4 goals per game. Allen was led by Jamie Schaafsma, who scored the team's only goal. Schaafsma scored 16:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Allen. Brian McMillin assisted on the tally. David Brown rejected 16 shots on goal for Arizona. The Sundogs registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Steve Silverthorn recorded 23 saves for the Americans. Allen totaled 52 minutes in penalty time with one minor and four majors and went 0-for-4 on the power play. For the Americans, Ryley Grantham and Jason Deitsch were ejected from the contest.
