Ryan Menei scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Tulsa Oilers picked up the extra point in a 4-3 (2-1 SO) win over the Denver Cutthroats.

The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams. Denver got a shootout goal from Brett Lutes. In addition to the clincher, Tulsa got a shootout goal from Michel Beausoleil.

The Oilers saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Tulsa made the score 3-1 on a power play goal by Drew Fisher at 17:18 in the first period. The Cutthroats evened things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Brad Smyth at 13:16 in the third period.

The Oilers got the win with help from a great game by Fisher, who had two goals and one assist. Fisher scored the first of his two goals at 15:19 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Tulsa. Ryan Barlock picked up the assist. Fisher's next tally made the score Tulsa with 2:42 left in the first period. Tulsa had gotten the advantage when Denver's Luke Fulghum was sent off for tripping. Menei assisted on the tally.

The Oilers stifled the Cutthroats' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 29 shots that Tulsa put on net surpassed the Oilers' average of 19.9 shots per game this season. Tulsa's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Tulsa also got points from Menei, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Tulsa received assists from Ben Gordon and Sean Erickson, who contributed one a piece.

With 30 shots on target during the contest, Denver exceeded the 21.0 shots it averages per game this year.

The Cutthroats were led by A.J. Gale, who had one goal and two assists. Gale scored 6:36 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Smyth provided the assist. Denver additionally got points from Troy Schwab, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Smyth, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Denver were Ben Wilson and Glenn Cacaro, who each chipped in one.

Shane Madolora made 27 saves for the Oilers on 30 shots. Tulsa totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Denver's Kent Patterson stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Cutthroats totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
