The Denver Cutthroats had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Missouri Mavericks.

Denver's Kieran Millan was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 36 saves and let only one puck past him. Millan certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.57 entering the contest.

Luke Fulghum had two goals to lead the Cutthroats to victory. Fulghum found the back of the net on the power play 18:25 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Denver and again while 19:56 into the third to make the score 4-1 Denver.

Denver excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Cutthroats' offense was clicking better than usual and put 25 shots on goal during the game, better than the 21.0 shots per game they average. Denver was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 17 penalty minutes.

Denver additionally got points from Troy Schwab, who also registered one goal and two assists. Ben Wilson also scored for Denver. Other players who recorded assists for Denver were Gabe Gauthier, who had two and Brett Lutes and A.J. Gale, who each chipped in one.

Missouri could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Mavericks average 3.3 goals per game. Missouri found itself short handed often, totaling 17 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays. The Cutthroats were unable to stop the Mavericks from sending pucks towards the net, and Missouri eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

The Mavericks were led by Ryan Jardine, who scored the team's only goal. Jardine scored 11:02 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Denver.

Mike Clemente recorded 21 saves for Missouri.
