Silverthorn stymies Arizona, Allen wins 2-1

Steve Silverthorn had a standout game with 47 saves, and the Allen Americans beat the Arizona Sundogs 2-1.

Allen was led by Adam Pineault, who racked up one goal. Pineault scored 3:26 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Allen. Brett Skinner provided the assist.

The 46 shots that the Americans put on net surpassed Allen's average of 25.5 shots per game this season.

Darryl Bootland also scored for Allen. In addition, Allen received assists from Ryley Grantham and Kale Kerbashian, who contributed one a piece.

Arizona stifled the Americans' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Sundogs' offense rang up 48 shots on Allen's net.

Arizona was led by Chad Nehring, who scored the team's only goal. Nehring scored on the power play 7:59 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Sundogs earned a power play opportunity when Pineault was put in the box for hooking. Matt McCready assisted on the tally.

The Americans incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Adam Russo rejected 44 shots on goal for Arizona. The Sundogs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
