A four-goal first period deficit cost the Missouri Mavericks, which could not recover and fell to the Fort Worth Brahmas, 6-2.

Chad Woollard had a great game for Fort Worth, netting two goals. Woollard found the back of the net 4:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fort Worth and again while 4:50 into the first to make the score 2-0 Fort Worth.

The Brahmas' penalty kill excelled, as Fort Worth gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Brahmas forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time. Fort Worth had been averaging 12.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Brahmas stifled Missouri's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Fort Worth surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Brahmas average 2.7 goals per contest. Fort Worth relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Tomas Klempa, Adam Hogg and Woollard took 10 of the team's 19 shots.

Fort Worth additionally got points from Sy Nutkevitch, who also had one goal and one assist. Daniel Spivak also scored for Fort Worth. More assists for Fort Worth came via Brendon Hodge, Erik Spady, Nick Schneider, and John Snowden, who contributed one a piece.

The Mavericks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Brahmas to score on any of their three power plays. Missouri put 39 shots on net during the contest, more than the 23.2 it averages per game.
