Brad Smyth racked up one point to lead the Denver Cutthroats to a 3-0 victory over Rapid City. Denver was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Cutthroats allow 2.7 goals per game. The 27 shots that Denver put on net surpassed the Cutthroats' average of 23.7 shots per game this season. Denver also got points from Aaron MacKenzie, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Denver also got a goal from A.J. Gale as well. In addition, Denver received assists from Troy Schwab, who had one. Rapid City could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Rapid City averages 2.4 goals per game. Rapid City relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Jordan Baker, Kyle Peto and Jamie Vanderveeken took 12 of the team's 22 shots. Rapid City's defensemen bolstered Rapid City's offensive attack, as they bombarded Kieran Millan with nine shots. Millan recorded 22 saves for Denver. The Cutthroats totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Rapid City's Danny Battochio stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Rapid City totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
