The Bloomington Blaze had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-3 win over the Missouri Mavericks.

Tyler Gron was all over the ice for Bloomington, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Gron scored the first of his two goals at 55 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Bloomington. Matthew Larke provided the assist. Gron's next tally made the score 5-0 Bloomington with 7:00 left in the second period. The Blaze had taken the advantage when Missouri's Sebastien Thinel got sent off for elbowing. Travis Granbois picked up the assist.

Bloomington pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 31 penalty minutes.

The Blaze made the Mavericks' goaltenders to work all game long, racking up 34 shots and forcing 27 saves. Mike Clemente made eight stops and Austin Lee made 19. Bloomington put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Missouri to score on any of its seven power plays. The Blaze outdid their season average for goals scored. Bloomington has scored at the pace of 4.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

Bloomington also got points from Nicklas Lindberg, who also had one goal and two assists and Jon Booras, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Bloomington also got a goal from Steve Makway as well. More assists for Bloomington came via Nicolas Rioux, Jared Walker, and Kyle Bochek, who each chipped in one.

The Mavericks were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and three majors for 41 minutes in penalty time. Missouri surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. The Mavericks put 35 shots on net during the contest, more than the 22.9 they average per game.

Missouri additionally got points from Kenton Miller, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Colten Hayes also scored for Missouri. Other players who recorded assists for Missouri were Jeff Pierce, who had two.

Pier-Olivier Pelletier recorded 32 saves for the Blaze. Bloomington registered two goals on six power play opportunities. For Missouri, Riley Emmerson was ejected from the game.
