Quad City falls to Rapid City after surprising comeback

Rapid City climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Quad City Mallards, 3-2.

Rapid City never led in the game until netting the game winner. Rapid City fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Quad City's Anthony Perdicaro at 7:07 in the first period. Rapid City tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Jordan Baker at 17:04 in the first period. Rapid City got the game winner at 8:47 in the second period on a goal by Baker.

Rapid City was sparked by Jeff Lee, who registered one goal.

With 23 shots on target during the contest, Rapid City exceeded the 20.5 shots it averages per game this year.

Scott Wray also scored for Rapid City. In addition, Rapid City received assists from Jarrett Konkle, who had two and Justin Faryna, Jordan Behler, Jesse Schultz, and Michael Couch, who contributed one a piece.

The Mallards stifled Rapid City's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Quad City also got a goal from Jason Dixon as well. Other players who recorded assists for Quad City were Bob Preece, Derek Matheson, Brett Robinson, and Mike Stinziani, who each chipped in one.

Danny Battochio rejected 22 shots on goal for Rapid City. Rapid City totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. Quad City's starting goalie, Jimmy Spratt, made 11 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of John Murray, who stopped nine shots. The Mallards totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
