The Wichita Thunder survived a determined comeback attempt by the Fort Worth Brahmas on the way to a 5-4 win.

Wichita took a 5-3 lead during the third period, only to have Fort Worth storm back on a Erik Spady goal 16:36 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Thunder got the win thanks to a great game by Matt Summers, who had two goals and one assist. Summers scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 1:12 into the second period to make the score 1-1. David Inman assisted on the tally. Summers' next tally on the power play made the score Wichita with 5:59 left in the third period. Wichita had taken the advantage when the Brahmas' Riley Boychuk got sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Kevin Young picked up the assist.

The Thunder capitalized on Fort Worth's penalties, netting three goals while skating with a man advantage.

Wichita additionally got points from Gregor Hanson, who also registered one goal and one assist and RG Flath, who also had one goal and one assist. Todd Griffith also scored for Wichita. More assists for Wichita came via Jon Madden, Les Reaney, Nathan Lutz, and Andrew Martens, who each chipped in one.

The Brahmas relied heavily on their defensemen to assist their forwards, and the blueliners responded by scoring three goals on 10 shots.

Fort Worth was helped by Daniel Spivak, who racked up one goal. Spivak scored 15:17 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Fort Worth. Phil Fox provided the assist. Fort Worth also got a goal from Ross Rouleau as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Worth were TJ Fox, who had two, Tomas Klempa, who had three, and Nick Schneider and Derrick Pallis, who contributed one a piece.

Torrie Jung rejected 19 shots on goal for Wichita. The Thunder incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Brahmas' Kristofer Westblom stopped 24 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Fort Worth incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
