Wichita squeaks by Missouri, 3-2Silverstein Eye Centers Arena Tue, Nov 20, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Wichita Thunder and the Missouri Mavericks was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Wichita emerged with a 3-2 win. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Ian Lowe secured the win for the Thunder with a goal in the third period. Wichita was sparked by Lowe, who finished with one goal and one assist. Lowe scored 9:34 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Wichita. Chad Painchaud picked up the assist. The Thunder put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Missouri to score on any of its four power plays. Wichita additionally got points from Painchaud, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Wichita also got a goal from Gregor Hanson as well. More assists for Wichita came via David Inman, Neil Trimm, Kevin Young, and Nathan Lutz, who each chipped in one. The Mavericks were helped by Jeff Pierce, who registered one goal. Pierce scored 16:28 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Brandon Smith assisted on the tally. Kellen Tochkin also scored for Missouri. In addition, Missouri received assists from Trevor Kell, Kenton Miller, and Sebastien Thinel, who contributed one a piece. Torrie Jung recorded 24 saves for Wichita. The Thunder incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mike Clemente rejected 22 shots on goal for Missouri. The Mavericks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
