Huge game by Fox boosts Fort Worth over Denver, 4-1

The Fort Worth Brahmas' Phil Fox had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 4-1 win over the Denver Cutthroats.

Fox found the back of the net 2:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fort Worth and again while 5:22 into the first to make the score 2-0 Fort Worth.

Fort Worth relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Fox, TJ Fox and Tomas Klempa took 17 of the team's 33 shots.

Fort Worth additionally got points from Sy Nutkevitch, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Fort Worth came via Erik Spady, who had three and Chad Woollard and Ross Rouleau, who each chipped in one.

Denver averages 31.3 shots on goal per game, but only sent 23 pucks on net against the Brahmas. The Cutthroats did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Denver averages 3.6 goals per game.

The Cutthroats were led by Gabe Gauthier, who scored the team's only goal. Gauthier scored on the power play 6:47 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Fort Worth. A tripping penalty on Woollard had put Denver on the power play. Brett Lutes assisted on the tally.

Fort Worth's Brad Fogal stopped 22 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Brahmas incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kent Patterson recorded 29 saves for the Cutthroats. Denver incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
