Denver rolls over Arizona, 6-0

The Denver Cutthroats had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-0 win over the Arizona Sundogs.

A.J. Gale was all over the ice for Denver, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Gale scored the first of his two goals at 16:52 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Denver. Brad Smyth assisted on the tally. Gale's next tally made the score 3-0 Denver with 13 seconds left in the first period. The Cutthroats had gained a power play chance when Adam Smyth was whistled for tripping. Troy Schwab picked up the assist.

Denver additionally got points from Smyth, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Gabe Gauthier, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Luke Fulghum, who also had one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Denver were Kyle Quincey, who had two and Sean Zimmerman and Brett Lutes, who each chipped in one.

Arizona failed to reach its usual level of shot production, putting 22 pucks on goal after averaging 29.3 shots per game this season. The Sundogs could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Arizona puts an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game.

The Sundogs were led by Chad Nehring, who took five shots.

Kieran Millan made 22 saves for Denver on 22 shots. The Cutthroats totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and three majors and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Adam Russo rejected 24 shots on goal for Arizona. The Sundogs totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and three majors and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
