Allen holds on for 6-4 win against Tulsa

The Tulsa Oilers tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Allen Americans held on for a 6-4 victory.

A goal by Brian McMillin put Allen up 6-2 in the third period, but Tulsa pulled to within two on Ryan Cramer's tally 19:57 into the third period.

Jason Deitsch was all over the ice for the Americans, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Deitsch scored the first of his two goals at 7:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Allen. Trevor Ludwig assisted on the tally. Deitsch's next tally made the score 5-2 Allen with 19:49 left in the third period. Anthony Maiani picked up the assist.

Allen struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Oilers to score three power play goals on five chances. With 38 shots on target during the contest, the Americans exceeded the 27.9 shots they average per game this year.

Allen additionally got points from Maiani, who also had one goal and two assists. Allen also got a goal from Scotty Howes as well. More assists for Allen came via Darryl Bootland, who had three and Brett Skinner, Mike Berube, Garrett Clarke, Nino Musitelli, and Ryley Grantham, who contributed one a piece.

Tulsa did not challenge the opposing goalie, racking up only 14 shots on net to force 10 saves. The shot total fell below the Oilers' season average of 25.5 shots per game. Tulsa stifled Allen's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Oilers were led by Michel Beausoleil, who tallied two goals. Beausoleil scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 19:19 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Allen. Tulsa had gotten the advantage when the Americans' Bootland was sent off for tripping. Matt Register provided the assist. Beausoleil's next tally on the power play made the score 6-3 Allen with 3:32 left in the third period. A boarding penalty on Jarret Lukin had put the Oilers on the power play. Gary Steffes picked up the assist. Ben Gordon also scored for Tulsa. Other players who recorded assists for Tulsa were Sean Erickson, who had two and Jake Trask, Ryan Menei, and Troy Ofukany, who each chipped in one.

Allen's Steve Silverthorn stopped 10 shots out of the 14 that he faced. The Americans incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Ian Keserich rejected 32 shots on goal for Tulsa. The Oilers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
