Rapid City outlasts Denver, 4-2

The game between Rapid City and the Denver Cutthroats was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Rapid City emerged with a 4-2 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Jarrett Konkle secured the win for Rapid City with a goal in the third period.

Rapid City relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Jared Brown, Scott Wray and Rusty Masters took 16 of the team's 29 shots.

More assists for Rapid City came via Damian Surma, who had two and Riley Weselowski, Jordan Baker, Alex Penner, and Michael Couch, who each chipped in one.

Denver's offense rang up 35 shots on Rapid City's net.

The Cutthroats were led by Troy Schwab, who had two goals. Schwab scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 15:39 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Denver earned a power play opportunity when Penner was put in the box for cross checking. Kyle Quincey picked up the assist. Schwab's next tally on the power play made the score 2-1 Denver with 3:31 left in the second period. Markus Lauridsen assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Denver were Luke Fulghum and Steve Makway, who contributed one a piece.

Rapid City's Tim Boron stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Rapid City incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kent Patterson made 25 saves for the Cutthroats on 29 shots. Denver incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
